week 13 of studio class was about discussing our next step of the project. so we had to come up with 5 iterations based on a problem statement in your element or the topic related to it, so we were
explained about this iteration through an example: which was lets say there is a ball pen and there is some issue with the cap of the pen, however it plays a very important role in the pen , so we understand its function , its purpose, its form , utility etc and we as aspiring designers try designing 5 ways too solve the issue of the pen cap without losing its function or purpose.
Similarly we had to find a problem statement in our element and come up with 5 iterations to solve the issue, however the question arises that its relatively easy for a product a product , fashion or a fashion designer to come up with 5 tangible solutions as they have some physical material to work with , but in my case I was confused as I was working on the layouts for a movie poster in communication design which was all about visual appearance , post my discussion with ma’am I got a clearer view of which direction I could work in further.
So I thought of picking a few Bollywood movie posters and recreating them with a new style and new look to the same.
REFLECTIONS:
However in this process I understood that that was nothing much that I was doing in this process, I was just adding an element of beautification in the existing layouts.
And post my discussion and review with ma’am I understood something very clear, and that was I redesigned the posters just because I could redesign them , I had no problem statement, I had no criteria or expectation to work on , I had no set target audience as such, so it was just because I can redesign posters I did but there was no purpose or meaning to it which I agreed to very well and could connect to this issue.
I understood how important it is to know the purpose, problem statement, target audience basically the head and tail of anything and everything you work on or design.
I then planned to rework on my iterations.
