Objects as History 9- 5.3.20- Devanshi Shah

Week9 of objects as history class was about a new topic , we started by understanding what iconographs are?

Iconographs obviously has something to do with icons, which goes by its name, but its also about symbol ,or something that symbolizes some belief or religion and theory.

We discussed the difference between iconography and emblem

Where iconography signifies some ideology or religious beliefs, and an emblem stands in place of something.

We discussed the various iconography like coins, the dance mudras, songs, religious symbols, the tikka put on the forehand, the snake, the various colour threads worn on the wrist or ankle

I am not sure but I feel according to the fengshui Chinese belief a bamboo plant of 3 sticks at work place and 5 sticks plant at home should be kept in a vase filled with water, with pebbles in it and tie a  red satin ribbon to each of bamboo sticks.

We then had a brief discussion as to what are museum visit is about and what we have to do in our visit for our next project.
