ASSIGNMENT 3:
CRITICAL REFLECTION OF TIMELINE PROJECT:
My time line was about weapons.
I studied about different kinds of weapons from over 10 civilizations in detail and picked 8 out of them.
I understood about different weapons and how it changed with time, I understood how weapons were just not used in wars for combatting but there were weapons to safeguard yourself, there were weapons which were used for sacrifice and worship purpose also, So weapons were just not used for wars but various civilizations had multipurpose uses also.
I understood how important every weapon was to its civilizations and how it was a matter of pride and was important for a stable kingdom or civilization.
While I was doing my research I found that it was not one weapon which was well known and was significant for each civilization, but every civilization had various phases and each phase had a significant weapon of its own.
So my time line includes all the phases of every civilization and a weapon of each phase.
It was very interesting to learn about how every weapons design had some meaning and significance to it, I also noticed a weapon of each phase was replaced with another weapon with the coming face overcoming all the flaws of the previous weapon with much more longitivity and stability.
I started my research by first listing down the 8 civilizations I wanted to include in my timeline, I arranged the same according to the oldest to newest civilization to be there and in the sequence of its emergence, then I had listed down all the phases for each of the civilizations , post which I did a detailed research about the weapon of that phase,
I faced few difficulties while researching which was for few weapons either the making or invention date was missing or the rediscovery date and location was missing, I couldn’t find few dates for few of the civilizations.
All in all it was a great learning, I never had done such detail research before, so I understood how it is done, I learnt a few research ethics of how the information that you use has to be cited and sourced , I learnt how to categorize and structure all my info especially when you have a lot of data.
