Week 3 of objects as history class was about the Mesopotamian civilization.
I was absent for this class , so what I understood from my classmates was:
The various aspects of the Mesopotamian civilization was discussed, we started by discussing what we knew about the Mesopotamian civilization.
- It’s a fertile land near the water bodies
- Land was very much suitable for agriculture
- There were city states , which were taken charge of by some authoritative people
- Mesopotamia was mainly divide in 2 dynasties, the Assyria dynasty and the Sumer dynasty.
We discussed various carving styles and the meaning behind it on certain rocks and artifacts, mainly carving of victory,
We saw some shells which had carvings on it , which were used as a mark of trade , or presented as an gift.
We saw many artifacts which showed the exsistence of art and culture in that period, we stuff like a tablet which had 2 heads carved out in an interlocked manner,
Zigorets- the symbol of architectural development.
We studied about the various authority hierarchy followed in these civilizations.
