Week 14 of studio class was about completing our final iteration model.
We made a few changes in the ideas and worked upon it.
Our model is all about the abstract depiction of Dadar market and kabootar khana. We planned to show every aspect of our place I a abstract format.
Meaning to every part of our model
- Abstract bird: we have made an abstract bird depicting the kabootar khana birds.
We have made the bird of sunboard material using abstract geometric triangles .
We have then stuck materials and items which are specially found in the market.
Dadar is well known for an wholesale diverse market.
Hence we have picked up every bit and part of items that you will find in the market and have covered the bird with them.
Explaining the abstract aspect of the pigeons of the kabootar khana as well as the speciality’s of the market.
- 3 layered base:
Our base is a 3 layered tire where every layer explains some aspect of our place.
The 3 layered tire explains the abstract water fountain which was a very peculiar part seen inside the kabootar khana.
We had interpreted the fountain into an abstract 3 layered tire.
The bottom most layer of the tire is covered with ice-cream sticks which denotes the fencing of the kabootar khana, prominently seen.
The second layer is covered with hand made newspaper flowers denoting the well- known flower market of Dadar.
And the third most last layer is covered with jute thread expressing the availability of raw materials in the market . As the market is famous for materials.
Which is topped with the very famous hoarding in the entrance of the market written “MI DADARKAR” written in Marathi.
We have placed the bird right in centre of the base explaining the importance as well as the centre point of attraction the same way it is placed in the actual spot in Dadar.
We have overall covered up the model using grains which are fed to the birds in kabootar khana.
EXPERIENCE AND LEARNING :Making this model was a fun journey, it included a lot of brainstorming, interviewing, site visit, mapping, sketching out ideas for the installation. We learnt a lot of group working skills, learnt how to co- operate, how to indulge with ideas and how to make it work.
