Week 7 was about faculty review of mock model and finalization of concept for final model.
About my concept:
- As mentioned earlier my grip was about the signature handshake.
- I have combined the grip with a symbol after detail study.
My concept is about the grip combined with a Germanic script symbol of strength –
I have added the Viking age bind runes script symbol of strength.
ABOUT RUNES AND ITS SCRIPT:
- Runes are letters in a set of related alphabets known as runic alphabets, which were used to write various Germanic languages before the adoption of the latin alphabets.
- There are 24 letters in the Germanic runes script.
About Bind Runes:
-bind runes is a ligature of 2 or more runes alphabets.
-They were one of the rare scripts used in the Viking age era.
My study and inspiration:
After the research of the script the bind runes symbols inspired me to combine it with my grip.
It was so because the Viking age bind runes script had magical powers, they could predict future, counter act harmful forces, and were also used to heal people’s illness.
The bind runes symbol of strength then inspired me and I incorporated it with my abstract modelling of my grip.
I had then combined the symbol and grip to give some meaning to my model , as just like the symbol justifies strength , my grip also explains the same.
Materials used in my mock model:
- I have used clay in my mock model as
I felt clay is easily mouldable and can be structured as well as shaped well.
Also after clay dries it gives a solid, filled, stern effect which had to be shown according to my grip.
I felt using clay was best suited to give a mock idea of my final model.
Flaws in my mock model:
- I felt after shaping the clay it still didn’t give a 3d effect or a 3d modelling which I expected
- There was lack of finesse
- And post the drying of clay it started cracking and braking from the edges, which was an issue.
Experience: working with clay was fun and was a learning experience ,it gave me understanding as to how it has to be used and how it has to be moulded . And taught me how I can work towards improvising my model as well as ideas for some other project.
