Week 3 of space and material class was a fun way of learning many new and important things.
CLASS DISCUSSION AND ACTIVITY :We had exercises such as 3 minute object drawing, then 2 minute object drawings,1minute object drawings, 20 second drawing and finally 5 second drawings.
This exercise taught me many things like it’s about understanding the difference between sketches and drawings, because while doing this exercise we had a time pressure and hence we were bound to complete our sketches within the time , as it was more of a challenge than an exercise . But where I was mistaken was ,I went to draw a simple object very neatly and in a fancy presentable manner with lot of time investment whereas the whole idea was just to draw a simple sketch.
When I compared those sheets all of the sketches were the same, obviously the quality of the longer time sketches were better but the 5 second sketches were also understandable, what I drew in 3 mins I could draw the same in 5 seconds also.
A sketch should be one, which gives a rough idea as to what the image or object is. What is important is time management, we need to understand how much time should be invested in every drawing or sketch we do.
Given a scenario if on the spot I have to explain my ideas on paper to the client within a short period of time I should be able to do so.
More often I should do this time bound object drawing, to remember how important time management is .
