Design Drawing 1: 2.8.19- Jai Ranjit,

The first class of design drawing was basically about learning more on Strokes, lines, forms, depth.We learnt how to use strokes and give various textures and depth to a sketch, I learnt how to use patterns, line types, light and dark concepts and how to incorporate them in sketches

THE STARRY NIGHT: Vincent Van Gogh

The starry night is a painting by Vincent van Gogh on a can vas using oil paint medium.The theme describes the ideal village view from the east facing window of Van Gogh’s asylum room, just before sunrise.

Through his painting I learnt many aspects such as depth given to the painting, how the way he has use strokes to depict things, the various thickness and thinness to show light and dark parts, the continuity and flow of the painting the colour scheme he used , and gave me an understanding on how to use these tips and improvise a sketch.

SELF REFLECTION;

I enjoyed exploring charcoal as a medium, implementing the above learnt tips and tricks, giving more importance to strokes and depth to a picture. Also I learnt something that I never knew of that is charcoal never sticks to anything ,hence the second picture view shows the same as my charcoal sketch started fading and smudging . You should always use a fixative spray to let the charcoal settle and stay.
